History
The PDA program was started in 2001 with Palm as the hardware and software choice. The goal of the program was to provide Medical reference material at the finger tips of medical students and incoming residents. Drug Interaction software such as ePocrates and Lexi-Comp has been at the heart of the PDA program.
The Apple iPod Touch is to reaplace Palm OS. We believe that this device will have all the medical reference based applications available by 2008-2009. Also the ability to provide multimedia lectures on the same device is a strong opportunity. These devices should enhance the capability of viewing lectures and other digital content. From a hardware capacity pint of view iPod touch is a 8GB device compared to 512MB Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices.
